Hello, I’m Debbie
For around twenty years I have been making dolls and bears by hand. It began with stalls at school fairs, and it has never really stopped — my sewing table has been the heart of the house ever since. Today I sew from my home in Nottinghamshire, and my bears travel to families all over the UK.
Why memory bears matter
Of everything I make, memory bears are the closest to my heart. When someone we love is no longer with us, their clothing holds so much of them — the colour they always wore, the softness of a favourite jumper, the pattern you would know anywhere. A memory bear gives that treasured clothing a new life, in a shape made to be held. It is a way of keeping someone close: a hug you can reach for whenever you need one.
Not every bear marks a loss. Some celebrate milestones — a babygrow from those first precious months, a little school jumper, a garment tied to a day worth remembering. Whatever the story behind the clothing, it is met with the same gentleness here.
My promise to you
I know what it means to fold up a loved one’s clothing and post it to someone you have never met. So this is what I promise, with every single order:
- Communication. I will keep you informed at every step, from the moment your clothing arrives to the day your bear is ready, and I am always happy to answer questions along the way.
- Care. Your garments are logged the day they arrive, stored safely, and treated as irreplaceable — because they are. Nothing is cut until the design is agreed with you.
- Approval. Before your bear is dispatched, I will send you a photo. Your bear only travels once you have seen it and you are happy.
When you’re ready — and only then — I would be honoured to make a bear for you.
